Nothing extraordinary happened to me in 2010. I didn't start a new job, or get married, or move or have a baby. I didn't travel far from home or experience anything that truly rocked my world. All I did differently was start a blog. As a result, I've gained a new appreciation and a renewed affection for simple, everyday things that bring me peace, stability, satisfaction and joy--sunny days, long walks, and great meals shared with people who make me laugh and feel loved.
These were my favorite moments of 2010. I hope your year has been filled with similar pleasures.
There were mugs of hot chocolate and long walks through snowy streets.
And excitement about the vivid colors replacing the hard grays and cold whites of winter as the first sights of spring finally started to emerge.
In June, we hosted a joint birthday party that made a group of 30-somethings feel like little kids again.
There has been no shortage of laughter this year.
Or food.
Or friends.
Nothing beats fall in the northeast.
Except, of course, the Christmas season in New York City. It was magical, and made an ordinary walk to the train station a nightly adventure.
